Chanel in the Making: A Stance Against Counterfeits
The goal of this project is to find solutions for Chanel to combat the growing $1.2 trillion counterfeit business while considering and protecting its brand DNA and heritage.
How might we maintain Chanel's desired level of elitism while introducing more affordable and financially accessible experiences?
Idea Pitch: An Augmented Reality Exhibit
Every year, the counterfeit market grows by 1.7 trillion dollars and it needs to be stopped. Through Chanel’s augmented reality exhibit, consumers will be educated on the value and craftsmanship each item holds, further motivating them to reduce the amount of money they spent on counterfeits and instead see the worth of a real Chanel bag.
'Chanel in the Making' is an interactive pop-up exhibit in honor of the brand's authenticity and craftsmanship. This mobile exhibit pops up in various locations around the world, taking Chanel customers on an exclusive, once in a lifetime experience.
This exhibit is proud to feature groundbreaking technology- the first augmented reality contact lenses taking our customers on the journey of a Chanel bag from the production to the runway as well as other interactive realities featuring our focus on authenticity and craftsmanship.
This exhibit will also feature a cafe as well as a museum space in order for non-Chanel owners to feel that they can still be a part of the Chanel experience without having the societal pressures of owning a bag which is the most significant motivation behind buying a counterfeit.
The augmented reality aspect of the exhibit will help the audience witness the time and effort put into the making of a Chanel bag and therefore motivate them to not buy a counterfeit. The benefiters of this will be Chanel as a company as well as it's loyal customers who are trying to protect it's legacy. It will also benefit the people that do not find Chanel financially accessible as it will be an experience that they can too be a part of.
